We're a volunteer-powered group saving majestic Pyrs from shelters and hardship—specializing in these gentle giants who make loyal family guardians and farm companions.
At Great Pyrenees Rescue Southeast, we're on a mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome these incredible dogs across GA, SC, NC, TN, and surrounding areas. Born as livestock protectors in the Pyrenees Mountains, Great Pyrenees are calm, loyal companions with hearts as vast as their double coats—but they often face challenges in shelters due to their size and independent spirit. As a volunteer-driven organization specializing exclusively in Pyrs, we pull them from high-kill facilities, provide vet care, training, and match them with families who appreciate their gentle temperament and protective nature. We have full 501(c)(3) non-profit status to expand our impact, but every day, we're saving lives through community support. Founded by Kenneth Roach, a Pyr enthusiast, our story started with one stubborn-but-sweet rescue who stole our hearts. Today, we're a growing network volunteers, vets, and advocates dedicated to ensuring no Pyr goes without a loving home.

Ashe - Pre-Adoption Available

Meet 🌟Ashe🌟: A Loyal Protector Seeking His Perfect Match! 🐾Ashe is a 3-year-old neutered male Great Pyrenees – a true devoted guardian with that classic Pyr Strong™ heart. He’s incredibly loving and protective with his family (you can trust him completely), but true to his breed, he’s wary of strangers and territorial around his home – strong instincts that make him an excellent protector. He gets excited around chickens (needs a bit of focused training there) and shows some resource guarding, but with consistent, devoted guidance, these are easily workable – many Pyrs thrive with clear boundaries and positive reinforcement.Ashe would shine brightest as a single-dog companion in an experienced home with secure fencing, room to patrol, and owners who understand and appreciate the independent Majestic Pyr™ nature.
If you’re ready to embrace the Pyr Mindset™ of commitment and training, Ashe will reward you with unwavering loyalty.
Jake - Pre-Adoption Available

Meet 🌟Jake🌟: The Ultimate Farm Guardian Ready for His Next Chapter! 🐾Jake is a 4-year-old Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix – calm, friendly, and a proven livestock protector his entire life. He’s lived harmoniously with free-range chickens, goats, and cattle, sleeping peacefully by day and faithfully patrolling the farm at night. His devoted owner is retiring and facing medical challenges, so Jake needs a new working home where he can thrive with animals and a job to do. This gentle giant embodies Pyr Strong™ loyalty and the Majestic Pyr™ spirit – independent yet affectionate with his people. If you have a farm/rural property with livestock, secure fencing, and room for him to guard… Jake is your perfect partner!

Lil Red was born with his 9 litter mates on Aug 1st. At 2 weeks old, his growth shifted.*Still waiting on testing to finalize but Vets believe he has chondrodysplasia (Pyrenees Dwarfism). This does not stop him from breathing in life to the fullest. He potentially will have medical complications moving forward as his growth continues. He will remain in care until we know he can live the life he wants and needs without further complications. Please help support his care fund, pitch in a small amount and designated the donation specifically to him. Funds will only be used for Lil Red.❤️Here’s how: donate a small amount through this link and list “For Lil Red Only”.A dedicated fund will then be created exclusively for him only and no other usage.❤️Or designate “for rescue expansion” so we can build more kennels for more rescued Pyrennes intakes!☀️In the mean time, Lil Red really enjoyed his first look at the Beach. As his eyes glared at the vast ocean, it seemed as if the whole world was starring back at him.👉Thank you for your Support and stay updated by following us to see adoptable Pyr and help these Giant Breed Dogs find loving homes who understands them.

Our Mission
Great Pyrenees Rescue Southeast is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming Great Pyrenees in the Southeast U.S.—those noble livestock guardians traits are often overlooked in shelters. We bridge the gap for farm-surrendered, lost, or abused Pyrs, providing emergency care, rehoming placements, and education on their protective roles. Founded in 2025 by Kenneth Roach, a Pyr advocate with ties to ethical breeding (Lilly GP), our vision: No Pyr left behind in the Southeast's rural heartlands.
Our Background
As a startup rescue, we're volunteer-driven with a lean team. No salaries—100% of funds fuel the dogs. We've partnered with local vets for discounted care and farms for temperament testing, proving our ops in real-time. Tax-deductible status pending (501(c)(3) filing Q1 2026); all donations support our mission with full transparency via quarterly updates here.
2025 Impact Metrics (YTD as of Nov 6) Rescued: 5 Great Pyrenees from high-kill shelters and owner surrenders.Vet Spend: $1,200 on heartworm tests, vaccines, and spays (avg. $240/dog).
Community Reach: 500+ views on social media posts; aiming for 2 local events to host. These numbers show our momentum—each Pyr saved diverts a guardian from euthanasia, reducing shelter strain by 20% in our pilot intakes. We're scaling to 20 rescues in 2026, focusing on winter vulnerabilities like frost and malnutrition.

At Great Pyrenees Rescue Southeast, we specialize in rehoming these majestic guardians. Surrender is voluntary and permanent—once accepted, we'll provide vet care, foster if needed, and find a forever home (often on farms). We review applications within 3-5 days and may have limited space, so alternatives are key. Note: If accepted, a $150 surrender fee is required. This helps ensure the pet has the best chance at finding the perfect forever home.
